2100 Orks Project: Gretchen and Herder finished.

I managed to get my 2100 Orks Gretchen Squad done. The pictures came out a little washed out for some reason. The color is much deeper in person. May try to snap some more next time taking some pics of the orks. I also added these to the BDS 40K Album.

2100 Orks Take First Tournament Win!

Managed to escape for a day and break out the Orks for a local tournament. The Orks were victorious each of the three rounds with a good accumulation of battle point modifiers solidifying a first place finish.

2100 Orks WIP: Gretchin

Some WIP shots of my Gretchin or as I affectionately refer to them:

My "super objective camping game winning squad of doom"

... this is generally followed by pinky to chin and maniacally evil laugh.

2100 Hundred Orks League Games 1 and 2

Unfortunately real life has demanded most of my time lately, specifically my new position. But, I can bore you to tears with that in another post. Over the last 3 weeks I did manage to get in 2 league games however with a couple of the crew from the 40kfightclub .

The first game was with "Hornblower" of the 40kfightclub. Jeff is a co-owner ("Primarch") of this outstanding forum. I always consider my games with Jeff as a little something extraordinary. Jeff is a quality individual, very good painter, and a solid opponent.

This game occurred a few weeks ago and my old memory is stretched thin on details, but I will do the best I can...I do have many pics from this game however.

Ever Just Want to Pack Up Your Stuff and Call it A Day?

While searching for inspiration I cam across this amazing work by Silphid on Coolminiornot.

Looking for inspiration can backfire as it almost did hear. As a mostly "A" type personality I want to always say "I can do that and I'll do it better than you"....however I can look at this and immediately concede this work is out of my league permanently.

Made me almost want to hang up my brushes for a few weeks to get over the fact my skills are so subpar in comparison.

However, that feeling quickly faded and I'm back to my normal dogged attempts at quality table top models.

I rarely post random work from others on my Blog...but this is just too awesome to not have grace my blog.

2100 Orks: Painting Begins! WIP Pic

Painting begins on the 2100 Orks.

I had begun the Gretchin mob a while back, but got some work done.

Also picking at a doc and...Ole' Snogwart for kicks and giggles.

Too much fun taking a shot at turning an IC into a squig.

2100 Orks Tournament Summary: Jan 21, 2012

With the completion of all three Kan Doza's early Friday and a solid work out I stayed up until about 12am to finish three standard Killa Kans to fill out my 1850 list for the Saturday tournament.
In addition I now have my fixed list portion of my local Winter 40k League completed. I can now get those games scheduled! So, good stuff. No pics of the standard Killa Kans as of yet, as they are...well standard. The tournament was at "Gamer's Sanctuary" in Flint, Michigan located about 30 minutes from my home.

2100 Orks: Kan Doza 3 and Group Mug Shot

Here is the last one of the three Kan Doza's.
I worked on this about an hour this morning and an hour this evening after work before hitting the gym.
Just need to build 3 standard new plastic kans tonight for the tournament tomorrow and get my army together and ready to get some gaming on.
Here is a group shot. I noticed each got a little bigger...go figure. But I have three more to build after the tournament and will mix the sizes up more.

In person the size difference is pretty minimal.

2100 Hundred Orks: WIP Killa Kan Nbr 2

Here are some WIP pics step by step...sort of...for Killa Kan Nbr 2.

Here we see the beginning of the chassis and soon to be installed pieces
Next I added a few small pcs to improve the balance and stbility..note the wheel cogs in the front.
Magnet installed and fitting process continues.
 Mini-Doze blade ready to go.
After the dozer blade was dry and fit just right...I went ahead and Ork'd it up a bit. Also finished the CCWpn arm and dug out a suitable bit for the grot zooka and magnetized that bad boy on as well.
A side shot of the "Kan Doza"
Here is the Kan Doza..hey I like that name..think I will keep it...all disassembled.. magnets really shine here and it goes together in a snap.

Time to start planning Kan Doza 3

2100 Orks: Killa Kan WIP

Work Pic of my Killa Kan.

I just had to beef up the front grill a bit...did not seem "hard" enough or "bulky" enough for my taste...threw a plate...with RIVETS...on the armature as that was looking a bit weedy as well.

I was going to rework the ammo load to look all "junka" but this baddie needs to get ready for paint...I need to move onto his pals.

2100 Orks Project:: WIP Ork Killa Kans; Prototype Finished

Another crazy work week combined with the holidays!

Last week I did not get much 40k stuff done...though I did become a certified CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation)  Instructor; which allows me to train others in CPR and issue them a certification. Also able to teach general first aid. Very cool.
I did however, finish my first Kan prototype with the magnetized chassis.

Let me know what you guys think. I think I may need to add something to the front.

I also did manage to build 2 more Warbike squads with two boyz and a nob each...you can see those in the back ground.

This has me nearing my proposed lists' model completion, save 5 more kans and either 3 more Kans or 3 big guns.

Here are some more pics:

2100 Orks Project: Killa Kann WIP

A few pics on what I have been working on lately.

The first one is coming along slowly, however once I get it down the remaining 5 or so should go much easier.

So far just raiding my bitz box, nothing built from scratch. I have the Dozer chasis about finished and will start on the Klaw and the Grotzooka next.

 Thanks for the read,

Tying Things Together

Model by Agatheron From "The Waagh"
The year is coming to an end. December is a busy time for many and no less the issue here on BDS40k.

This month my goal is to wrap up any existing post topics, review 2011 goals, set new goals for 2012, and finalize my 2100 Orks Project army list.

While Thanks giving and work have dominated the last few weeks, I have been mulling over some list ideas for my Orks. Here is a quick sample of the two  2100 point lists that seem to rise to the top of my addled mind more than any others:

2100 Hundre Orks Project:: Tournament Recap Part 4 of 4

Well, here we come to the meat of the matter and take a look at how the list did in general, what list I should have taken, how I could have improved my generalship, and thoughts on a proper unit of trukk boyz, with some extras thrown in.

2100 Orks Project: Part VIII "To Build a Better Nob"

A sneak peek at part of my work table containing all my various Nobs and War Bosses. Part IV of my tournament recap is still to come, but I have been busy continuing to build Orks. It kinda feels like I am actually trying to build 2100 Orks right about now.

Since the tournament on October 30, I have built another 9 burna boyz, 3 Kustom Blasta Meks, a few bits ended up as Storm boyz, and some more Gretchen as I come across them. I also built about another 12 Shoota Boyz and a Tank Busta with a Tank Hammer.

I had so many spare torsos and legs from years back that the 3 boxes of Lootas ended up building: 12 Lootas, 12 Burnas, 3 Rokkit Meks, 3 Big Shoota Meks, and 3 Kustom Blasta Meks. So a very nice return on investment there.

2100 Orks Project: Tournament Recap Part 2 of 4

Time for round two.

Adepticon 2011 Mission 2: Thou Shall Know Thy Duties

Deployment: Pitched Battle
**A single objective is placed in center of table and players roll off to place one more each that must be 12" from any board edge and another objective.

  • Primary: Seize Ground. The player that controls the most objective markers at end of game achieves this objective.

  • Secondary: Preserve the Cargo, Mind the Rot.. At the end of the game if your force contains 50% or more than its total starting kill pints, then you can claim this objective.

  • Tertiary: Assassinate. A player achieves this objective by destroying the opposing player's designated commander.

  • Objective Bonuses: +2: Forward Base. Have your most expensive scoring unit finish over 50% starting strength controlling or contesting the center objective.

2100 Hundred Orks Project:: Tournament Recap Part 1 of 4

Alright time for a tournament recap, unit analysis, stuff that would have worked well had I taken it, future list ideas with thoughts on ork unit load outs.  I expect his will get done in parts as I tend to get quite verbose.

Couple notes on the format prior starting. The instructions on how you could use your points for each round was a little vague. It did not affect the games per se, but it did cause me to struggle building the list. There were only a total of 14 players not 27 as I had thought...maybe I was seeing double due to fatigue!

The tournament was run well and the missions were Adepticon Combat Squad missions slightly altered for point levels and larger table size. The missions were challenging without being overly complicated. This means, yes you had to read the mission, but it was not over the top.

Here are the lists I took for each round:

2100 Hundred Orks Project: Part VII...Job's a Good 'un

Just a quick update on the 30 Oct tournament,
Orks managed to eek out 2 wins and a narrow loss in the third round, finishing somewhere between 4th and 6th out of approximately 27 players.

I took plenty of pics and will work on some game summaries and what I thought of the orks after not fielding them for so long.

I will preface by saying i was extremely rusty and made many tactical errors...also the trukk boyz were pretty lackluster in assault as we'll see. My poor rolling for all things "powered"; ie. fist or klaw continues to be a major downer and lending weight to my constant questioning of the reasoning of putting a klaw or fist everywhere one can, at least for me.

additionally, I promise to  use "ork Speak" sparingly, I do like it in post titles though.

All for now. thanks for the read,

BDS

2100 Orks Project VI: Tourny Time

Well, today is the day. I finalized my list and posted it below.

It is a good idea to pull you models out and take a solid look at them from across the table if you have not played that army in a while just to make sure all your "t's" are crossed.

I did that and as a result I took out/off anything that made me go "mmm". This freed up a bit of points and a lobba unit was born.

I have also been on a boy building spree and built another 25 or so odd boyz yesterday. this leaves me with maybe 45 odd orks; 20 boyz and then various pain boyz, dozen or so nobs, etc.

after that it is on to the kans, and retrofitting the vehicles.
